God’s Valentine To Us
February 13, 2011
Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day and I hope that you have bought that special card, candy or gift for that special someone. I usually write about how Valentine’s Day started and who started it, but today I want to share another look at this wonderful day. We all love getting valentine’s cards. No matter how old we are or how young we are it is great to know that we are loved by someone. Some of those cards we keep forever. Why, because someone loves us and expressed it to us. We give Valentines to remind the person that we love them. Approximately 85% of all valentines are purchased by women. They are the ones that really know how to pick the right card. Did you know that approximately 141 million Valentine's Day cards are exchanged annually, making Valentine's Day the second most popular card-sending holiday after Christmas! Did you know that God gave us a Valentine? It is found in John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
1. God loves you: God loves us so much. God has always loved you, in the good times, bad times, and the ugly times, and will love you forever. The truth is that God’s love for us never changes.
2. God gave you His Son: God didn’t send you a card or candy. He sent us His one and only Son as an expression of His love for us.
3. God wants you to believe: God’s deepest desire for you is that you would believe in His Son and live with Him forever.
4. God wants to give you everlasting life: God wants to give you a future with him in heaven. This is life that never ends. What a Valentines that God has sent to us.
