Pastor's Weekly Message - 6/19/11

Happy Father’s Day
June 19, 2011

We the staff of New Bethel Baptist Church would like to wish all of the dads a happy Father’s Day. Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are more meaningful the older I become. When you are young it has some meaning to you, but the older our parents become it has greater meaning. When grandchildren call you and come over it is just cream on the top.  Whether you take your dad out or cook for him, make it a day that he will remember the love that was given to him. Those three words “I Love You” have a great meaning. Try it. He will love it and you will too for expressing it.

Today we are baptizing one of our dads, Jeremy Long. Jeremy has been saved but never baptized, and what a great day to be baptized on Father’s Day.  That’s a day that he will always remember plus finding out what sex their new baby will be. Yes, this is Courtney’s husband.

There are not enough adjectives in the human language to describe the great job that our leaders did for VBS. From Courtney, the director, to April, the right arm, Pam, the head of the food committee, to our nursery workers, Kristen who stepped up to the plate, Craft leaders, Recreation leaders, Lesson leaders, bus drivers, counters, moneys rollers, Music leaders, Bible Verse leaders, and all the behind the scene workers. I preached about being fired up over this week and you did it.  As Pastor I was thrilled with what I saw as you loved on the kids. We had the best kids that we could have had overall. They were fun loving and teachable kids. We had several kids who gave their heart to Jesus.  That’s what VBS is all about - sowing the seed and watching kids give their hearts to Jesus. We will never know what an impact we had on these kids but somewhere in the future we will. If the Lord does return so we will know in Glory. Thank for all that you do for the Lord. I Love You and Pray for you.

Pastor Tommy
