Pastor's Weekly Message - 9/18/11

Revival starts next week (Sept. 25-28) with Bro. Duane Eller from Nails Creek Baptist Church. I hope you have made plans to be here each service. We need a Revival in our Church. We need to get serious about our walk with the Lord. God has blessed us so much and we are thankful for all he has done, but are we living the way that he wants us to? What is Revival? The synonyms are: revitalization, renewal, restoration, stimulation, reinforcement, recovery, resumption, resurgence, rebirth, rehabilitation. Charles Finney said “It presupposes that the church is sunk down in a backslidden state, and a revival consists in the return of the Church from her backslidings and the conversion of sinners.” Amen to that.

1. The foundations of sin need to be broken up. A revival always includes conviction of sin on the part of the church. Backslidden professors cannot wake up and begin right away in the service of God without deep searching of their heart. The fountains of sin need to be broken up. In a true revival, Christians are always brought under such conviction; they see their sins in such a light that often they find it impossible to maintain a hope of their acceptance with God. It does not always go to that extent, but there are always, in a genuine revival, deep convictions of sin, and often cases of abandoning all hope.

2. Revival is a new beginning of obedience with God. Just as in the case of a converted sinner, the first step is a deep repentance, a breaking down of heart, a getting down into the dust before God, with humility, and a forsaking of sin.

3. Backslidden Christians will be brought to repentance. A revival is nothing else than a new beginning of obedience to God.

4. Christians will have their faith renewed.

5. A revival breaks the power of the world and of sin over Christians. It brings them to such vantage ground that they get a fresh impulse towards heaven; they have a new foretaste of heaven, and new desires after union with God; thus the charm of the world is broken, and the power of sin overcome.

6. When the Churches are thus awakened and salvation of sinners will follow.

7. When a revival can be expected? A revival may be expected when Christians have a spirit of prayer for a revival. That is, when they pray as if their hearts were set upon it.

Revival and Chicken Strips!

We want to relay a couple of important news items.  First, Revival is quickly approaching, and we hope everyone can attend.  Reverend Duane Eller will be the preacher.  Many of you will remember Duane from when he was the music minister at NBBC among other things several years ago.  We are very excited about his return.  Revival is September 25th - 28th starting with the 11 AM service on the 25th and including 7 PM services nightly.  Make plans to attend!

Also, the New Bethel Christian Preschool is having a Chicken Strip Plate Fundraiser on October 1st from 5 PM to 7 PM.  Tickets are $7.00.  See a deacon or Brenda Hallford to purchase a ticket.

If you missed last Sunday’s services you missed Rondale Banks giving his testimony. It was powerful, touching and funny. (All but his baptism.)  The part “made in God’s image” was priceless and powerful, and where he talked about finding God’s purpose for his life made us all stop and think.  Everyone has a testimony. God always give us something to say. If you missed it go our website and listen to it.

Today is another wonderful day to Praise the Lord. We are so blessed by the Lord daily and many times fail to Thank Him for all he has done. The weather has been wonderful: Not as hot during the day and cool nights. Change is in the air. School is back in session (Monday for Stephens County) and lives are getting back to normal - whatever normal means. I completed my classes this past Friday. Praise the Lord! But many of you are just starting.

Today is another wonderful day to worship and praise the Lord.  Last Sunday's service was great.  The testimonies of Ms. Karen and Ms. Gina were so uplifting.  You could feel the love they have for the Christian Preschool and each child who attends.  They not only help the children who came last year.  Seven of them will be returning to school this year.  We have ten enrolled for the first time.  Orientation is tomorrow night from 6 to 8pm.  School will start Friday August 19th.  If anyone would like to sponsor a child so they can attend the Registration fee is $75.00.  Monthly Tuition for 3 days a week is $80 and for 5 days it is $95.  Last week there was a family who wanted their child to come, but could not financially afford it.  A couple from New Bethel made a donation so this child can attend.  Blessing after blessings can be yours.  People, God's love is real.  Let's share His Love with others.  It will not come back void.

Today we welcome our teachers from the preschool: Karen Thomson and Gina Ayers. These two ladies have been with us for the last two school years and will be here this year.  You will be hearing from them both today. We are so blessed to have two ladies that love the Lord and love kids. They put in countless hours here at the preschool and many more hours at home for the kids. We have stated before that their families are very supportive of the school and their burden for kids. I am amazed at the love and passion that these ladies give each day for our kids. They are here during the summer getting ready for this new school year. It doesn’t take a person very long in talking with them to see they have a heart for kids. You will see in today’s bulletin how many kids have come through the preschool in the past. Several of them are church kids or family of church members who have attended.

We are coming to the close of the Book of Genesis and it has been a great Wednesday night study for me. I have enjoyed teaching and preaching through this wonderful book. The study has been on time for us and there has been a lot of information we have learned. Adam, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph have been the main characters in this book. The Nation of Israel was birthed and all that God had promised Abraham came true just like He said it would.  I am going to miss the studies when we conclude them. Wednesday is my favorite time together with you because we have time to do an in-depth subject or a study.   I am not sure where we will be going after we finish this Book but it will be another Book study. It is amazing how the Books we are studying cover things we are dealing with today in life.
